This part of the forum is for tracking your character's doings for three main reasons:
How, exactly, you chronicle your character's activities are up to you, but here are some tips:
- To help you remember what your character has done.
- To help other people remember what your character has done.
- So that, in the event that you decide to leave the site, the next person to take on the character can easily get caught up to speed.
How, exactly, you chronicle your character's activities are up to you, but here are some tips:
- Don't try to keep track of the timing between events unless it's critical - it's the order of events that matters, and time tends to be a fiddly thing in these RPGs anyway.
- Linking to the relevant threads is a good idea, do it! But you may want to wait until they find their way into the archive since the link will become broken when the thread is moved. Threads in the archive are never removed, so you're safe to link to them there.
- When deciding on which details to include, remember what this is for: the really important bits are things like who your character has met, critical info they know (like secret identities or the location of someone's hideout), acquiring fancy equipment, and other stuff like that which will matter in the long run.
- Read the timelines posted for other characters that yours has interacted with for accuracy and if there's a mistake, tell the player to fix it. That's the best way of ensuring that the canon we're creating remains solid.
- Try to organize things so that it's easy to refer to - and if another player's method seems to work better than yours, steal it.
