When the winged demon dodges her, Hawkgirl expertly twists in the air to keep up with it, as agile as any bird on this planet but also much faster. She thrusts hard with her wings to keep up with it when it rises higher - few can out-fly Hawkgirl for long - though the effort is enough to distract her from wondering why she doesn't have to dodge any blows from the giant. Having seen the creature's shadow fire before, she expect it this time and dodges it, but only narrowly. Instead she takes the chance to suddenly charge forward at an angle to the other side of it and hurl a solid strike at it's body with her mace.

The momentum carries her past the demon, and she turns sharply to face it again to see if it's left her another opening or if it's had enough, but it's then that she spots the many gargoyle-like shadows now chasing her. Where did they come from? And what happened to the giant? She'll worry about that later. The important thing is that they're there and right behind her. And suddenly she's having flashbacks to basic training...

"Here's how I made Lieutenant..." she mutters to herself before suddenly hurling herself straight at the group with one powerful thrust of her wings before folding them nearly closed and letting her momentum and gravity take over. But as she folds them she flicks them to put her into a fast corkscrew twist and extends her mace so that it carves a path around her as she spins. This gives the group of gargoyles about three options: dodge out of her way, get struck by the mace as it spins around her, or if one remains directly in her path it'll find out why she wears a helmet and just how hard a speeding Thanagarian can headbutt. With any luck, she'll literally drill a hole through the group and then the fun can really begin.

The energy blast came close to taking Hal off-guard. But the teleporter had spoiled the element of surprise by his quip and Hal already had a shield up.

Even so the blast hit him on the shoulder, knocking him forward and into a roll. Instead of fighting the motion Hal moved with it, hitting the ground on his shoulder and rolling until he faced in the direction of his attacker.

He automatically unleashed a bolt of green energy, which splashed over the shield his attacker had thrown up.

So, he was facing an opponent who could teleport and apparently create solid objects out of some form of dark energy. The real question was why the man hadn't just teleported himself away after robbing the bank. Either his range was very limited or he'd stuck around for a fight.

Of course this shadow wasn't the only one who could create objects from nothing...

Hal created a gigantic green wall, lashing outwards with it at eye blurring speed towards his attacker. At the same moment he gained altitude, giving himself the higher ground.

He briefly considered helping the winged woman, but she seemed to be holding her own for the moment and he couldn't afford to split his concentration against his own opponent.
